How it all started : the orginal 'Pass Along Appreciation Cards' |
![]() |
I’ve always loved the concept of giving something on to others that inspires them, encourages or acknowledges them and even connects them to other people, to information or experiences that makes something just a little bit better for them. I’m a huge supporter and proponent of the power of word of mouth; of passing things along; pay-it-forward etc. Of simple one-to-one actions that long term have a far greater outcome: a bit like the old fable of how the beat of a butterfly’s wings on one side of the world can cause a tsunami on the other.. And I also love travelling and exploring life; many other countries and cultures. During my travels I was fortunate to have spent more than 2 years in and around South East Asia, where I photographed the subjects for the first series of cards. Many people seemed to like my images, but I wanted to create something just a little more practical and ‘useable’ than merely another image on a wall. It was then I started seeing little ‘free’ inspirational cards in cafes from spiritual groups (like Sri Chimnoy and Avatar etc), and so I started to think how neat it would be to have my own images on something like this that would bring pleasure and levels of inspiration in the same way. Well, cutting a long story short, all of this came together and resulted in the cards you see here (above). So…… I thought, instead of simply sending someone a regular greeting card for a birthday or special occasion, wouldn’t it be neat to give them a personal token of appreciation for any reason, any day of the week ? And what if they would also want to give to others as they had just experienced, so that they can make someone else's day : rippling out, touching others; paying it forward... Imagine then how it could feel to give an inspiring, 'business-card-sized' image/message to that person, specially chosen for what you appreciate about them or how you feel about who they are for you..I don’t pretend to own the ‘pass along’ concept, as there are other companies and sites and online communities already doing this. I merely came to the same place at the same time, and have the images and depth of experiences which I can also uniquely present, for wherever this touches and inspires those who it touches and inspires! |
