It’s almost cliché these days, but let’s be honest, ‘Network Marketing’ or whatever else people call it has had a bad rap over the years, and many people still pre-judge what could be an exceptional money making opportunity for them by some very outdated views or hear-say.
I'm very interested in re-drawing the picture about Word-of-mouth-Referral ways of earning money, because I see such potential for so many people, if they are aligned with it, to succeed. Yet they don't even look this way, or maybe it doesn’t even show up as a possible direction for them, often ‘cos of how it’s been presented to them, and what they’re motivated by in life.
I believe this is such an ethical business to be involved in, especially if you want to make a positive difference to the lives of others. There’s also the point of working from home, saving on traffic congestion and pollution; empowering yourself while you choose your hours and work environment. I call that Social Responsibility.

Lately too, I began to understand Social Enterprise, where the very reason for doing whatever I do to make money, is firstly driven by the impact it has for others in countries like Guatemala, Cambodia, Laos, Burma and Nepal, where I have personal connections and a history of living and visiting there.
Yes, it's possible to still make the money we need for our daily life through our normal work. But for more and more people, that model isn’t working anymore, nor does it still give us the time to do what we want to do with that money. For me that was about being able to travel ½ the year to those above countries and get involved with starting my own aid-trade projects. I could never do that working in a regular job or career.
Lucky for me I’m a bit of a maverick anyway, and find a way to do things, even before the complete picture is set up !
The difference is understanding Linear Income (also known as Reciprocal Income) verses Leveraged Income (also known as Residual Income).

Basically this is the regular way we were taught to get a job and exchange our hours for someone else’s money: eg: You work 1 hour for your boss (or even for yourself) and you get paid for 1 hour’s work, at a rate agreed between you and the boss (or your client) .
You don’t work, you don’t get paid. So of course you have to keep on working….

Two of the most easily understood methods of Leveraged or Residual income are interest from savings / investments, or income from rental property. Another way (like a royalty on a CD or book) is that you work once, and get paid over and over again.
Here, rather than ‘selling’ you're getting paid for referring, and then working with others and showing them how to easily do the same, maintaining and growing a group where the success of others is ultimately more important than your charisma or talent or skill in having that happen.
